RE: https://flipboard.com/@cbcnews/calgary-s2m5l3ffz/-/a-tcvFUSJTQ7KshxXOqe4sGg%3Aa%3A107108217-%2F0Finally someone is raising the red flag. The issue isn’t people accessing health care fraudulently, it’s bad actors getting access to that data. I just renewed my licence early to sidestep problem for another 5 years. Hope someone sane fixes this in the meantime.#abpoli #ableg

@Paulatics @thetyee I took some time this week to examine the twisting and double-speak that dominates the referendum questions: https://crystalgaze2.blogspot.com/2026/06/the-smith-referenda-in-october.html

"Could Albertans already be seeing the nascent economic impact of... fading home equity? Could this snowball into a made-in-AB, thank-you-Danielle recession if business investment dollars divert to other provinces? What happens if O&G head offices relocate, the way financial corps abandoned Montreal when the dreamers were pushing separation there?"New estimates are that leaving #Canada would cost Albertans about $400 billion for disentanglement. Residents there would have to grapple with the loss of #Canadian #citizenship and the massive overhead of setting up their own social #safety net, #retirement income support and security. Atop this would be the rational decision of major corporations to stay far away until it was known if this breakaway, land-locked, under-populated rebel territory was economically viable or even stable."Might this bring years of falling real estate prices?"How could it be otherwise?"#abpoli #canpolihttps://www.greaterfool.ca/2026/06/04/a-cool-wind-in-cowtown/

@ScribblersEmporium It sounds like there just won't be a mark in that corner if someone hasn't proved they are a Canadian citizen. However, anyone applying for or renewing a driver's licence or ID card will still have to prove legal entitlement to live in Alberta (Canadian permanent residency, Indian Status card, or a visa or refugee status).https://www.alberta.ca/new-drivers-licence-and-identification-cards

RE: https://mastodon.social/@livewirecalgary/116687369936451989We are stuck in a cycle of "social disorder occurs at a location -> funding is allocated to chase the social disorder away -> social disorder moves to another location - > funding is allocated to chase the social disorder away -> social disorder moves back to previous location"Until we start having actual conversations about the root causes of homelessness and substance abuse, and actually allocate resources to address those root causes rather than to just chase the people affected away, the cycle will continue#yyc #abPoli #cdnPoli #homelessness

Olds residents have pointed out that the website makes no mention of the AUC process and directs people to the Town of Olds not to the AUC.Is this a way for someone to gather supporters' names?Other suspicious stuff going on as well...
