trying to write a draft of something and couldn't help but mention the Bialystoker Bricklayers Benevolent Association ... this image is from NYPL but I swear at YIVO I saw a historical photo of one of their huge mass gatherings on the street in NY a century ago.

I only found one mention of a klezmer musician who played for this association, one of its own members the clarinetist David Davidson (1884–1964) who was, unsurprisingly, from Białystok and arrived in New York the same year the Association was founded, 1905. some great photos of him from Ancestry.#MusicHistory #Bialystok #klezmer #MutualAid
