I object to the rules changes this Republican Administration is making to the Board of Immigration Appeals, rules meant to make it nearly impossible for people to appeal immigration rulings.. I want you citing this rule change as yet another reason DHS should not get their full budget until they reform (fund TSA, FEMA, and the Coast Guard, but no funds for ICE/CBP until the system is overhauled.)This rule change would have appeals dismissed unless a majority of Board members affirmatively vote to consider the appeal on the merits. An appellate system that defaults to dismissal will screen out precisely those cases where scrutiny is most necessary, appeals filed under emergency intake conditions, often without immediate access to transcripts or records. When appellate review narrows, errors are less likely to be detected and corrected before a person is forever removed from the US. This rule change reduces the appeal period from 30 days to 10 days. It takes time to review the immigration judge’s decision and the record to identify errors. It assumes unrepresented asylum seekers can get access to the databases and forms necessary to file their appeals in a timely manner.I want you to cite this rule change as yet another reason to hold up certain DHS funds. I do not want my tax dollars funding this cruelty. #Resist #ResistOfTheDay #ICE
