@ninawillburger Wow, that looks as if it could've been made just a year or two ago - both for how well it's survived & for the style. An example of how some creative choices keep on working well for centuries

XXL transport containers: Two huge #Roman wooden barrels in an outstanding state of preservation, found in Xanten. Both had a capacity of approx. 1250 l and were used to transport #wine from the Mediterranean region to the Lower Rhine. They were recycled for lining wells.On display at Römermuseum Xantenme #archaeology #romanarchaelogy
