@gmc - is it possible nowadays to do Usenet in a properly distributed way? In the late 90s / early 2000s I used it a lot, but I recall it was very dependent on centralised infrastructure with gatekeepers and static peering relationships. I did manage to once successfully set up a new group, but I recall it took a lot of convincing the powers that be.
