@mothninja Hi, Anna. It's difficult to make a recommendation regarding which screen reader might be the most appropriate for your father since I don't know a lot about what his needs are and what operating system he's most familiar with or which one he would refer to use.If his interests are primarily checking email and reading Web sites and if he uses or prefers to use Windows, Nonvisual Desktop Access (NVDA) might be a good choice for him. It's free of cost but if he will want or need free phone support, NV Access, the developer of NVDA, doesn't currently offer this. Phone support for some is critical and for others it isn't.www.nvaccess.orgIf he wants or will need phone support, JAWS might suit him better.www.freedomscientific.comTheir most inexpensive option is JAWS Home Annual (for U.S. residents only)JAWS is my primary screen reader although I do regularly use NVDA as well and I really do like it.For general blindness info:the American Foundation for the Blindwww.afb.orgIn the U.S., there are two well-known blindness organizations. the American Council of the Blindwww.acb.orgthe National Federation of the Blindwww.nfb.orgSources of other various high tech and low tech blindness products:Maxi Aidswww.maxiaids.comIndependent Living Aidswww.independentliving.comCatalogs of Useful Products for Blind and Visually Impaired Peoplehttps://www.acb.org/catalogs-useful-products-blind-and-visually-impaired-peoplePlease don't hesitate to follow up if you have further questions.

@zughy_boi I found https://limited.systems/articles/the-real-problem-with-AI/ to be an excellent read (as well as the other articles on this site).I agree that the general AI hype might be the worst problem than energy use attributed to individual users. Each time someone writes positively about LLMs, I fear that it just added to the hype.
