Now that I got Hades II to run on #Linux, the only important software I need to figure out is #Affinity Photo. Not the free version Canva is using as a sales funnel, the paid version 1.8.Oh, and my tax software because I don't want to use their cloud service with AI chatbot.I'm very pleased with #ZorinOS so far. It wasn't completely without tinkering but since the tinkering has only been for the setup, I'm entertaining the thought of installing it for my mum on her Windows 11 machine.

@AndresFreundTec @thesamesam @mgorny I'm on a two week update cadence and it's fine. Especially when my systems have auto-update. I also set them to randomly reboot once every 7-10 days so I know I can handle random outages.

@latenightlinux I end up with Joe (because he is factually correct) on this one but the argument about LLMs here was bizarre. Rare moment where some of the interlocutors were flat out factually wrong. Even if the temperature of a model is set to 0, you can never get a the exact same output because of batching differences, GPU implementation differences, and how computers handle floating point math. It seemed like the cohosts were making the argument that whatever the code does to get to those outputs that's defined in the scaffolding doesn't matter. Coincidentally, I am looking for a buyer for some O(N^2) complexity code I have laying around. Maybe there's some takers on the LNL crew?

So I’m testing out #Ubuntu2604LTS on an intel #thinkpad T14 gen 4 and the standby battery life is atrocious. Went to bed around 10pm, closed the lid and when I woke up in the morning it was completely dead. Am I missing something. I thought newer kernels handled sleep and power settings better?
