In the modern world, The reason the key matters is so the singer can reach the whole range of what's needed. Theres literally no other reason. Well, maybe it matters if you change keys because it provides some interest, and the singer needs to hit all the notes in that key too...Otherwise... I built a linear keyboard specifically because theres no such thing as keys really...
