The old fans of Tour de France among us, will know this bit of road as the real route up the Tourmalet. They have been using the new bit, that Paddy is looking down upon, for at least 15 years. For some reason cyclist wants to use the new road. They are missing out on some of the best parts of the Tourmalet and get to cycle in nostalgia, back when it was real bikes, no electric shifting or carbon. I fast hiked this bit and then tried to be faster on the downhill on the other side of the valley.
